I ordered some seeds from www.tuckers-seeds.co.uk today. Will let you know how the service pans out but the prices were pretty good. I wanted to try Hungry Gap Kale (after reading about it in this month's GYO mag). I also ordered a pea which doesn't need staking (wahey) and some kohl rabi which can grow to 10 kilos without going woody. They seem to have a large range of seeds and I was happy at a pound postage for my three packets (1900 seeds in all)

LOL Snadger. We tasted kohl rabi for the first time yesterday as I bought some at the local farmer's market. I rather liked it (have some sown anyway). Was just so fascinated by the thought of a veg that size that I decided to order some. Could be a new contest on the vine - largest kohl rabi. I have no success with pumpkins and yet to have a result with anything which requires swelling of the root (radish, turnip) so it will be interesting

I used to read a story to my children - The Enormous Turnip. Takes me back, that does!

              Brilliant thread.

Just posting how great this thread is.

Then it is in my subscriptions and i can go back and look at my leisure.

The postman must hate us all when all these catalogues arrive.

What does kohl rabi taste like anyway and is it difficult to grow? May be a new one to try next year.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
