Help. What a plonker

I have done something stupid and need some advice :eek

I am in my second year of having a delightful little allotment in Bristol

I really enjoy learning things, reading about growing things looking things up on the Internet so why I did this without thinking I don't know

I went to Wilko yesterday and bought slug pellets, tomato feed, rose feed etc etc and then I noticed ant and insect killer for homes and gardens so I popped that in my basket as some of my small raised beds have loads of little brown ants that bite

I went down my lot tie today and watered etc and started playing with yesterday's purchases then I went and put the ant killer all over my beetroot bed, onion bed, garlic bed and leek bed. Then I stopped and thought why I have a just put the poison stuff all over the food I am grow to eat

I decided not to water them as it is quite wind and I thought some of it might blow away

Do you think my crops will be ok to eat in a few weeks?

Hi Jenny, I am pretty new to all of this and you might see my post from last week after I scattered slug pellets all over my veg :0 shock horror after I realised what I had done...I had great replies from here tho so fingers crossed you should be fine xx The guys and girls on here are fab with their help and advice

There is an unconventional slug deterant called "Exclude Ratty" ! A powder that smell strongly of garlic. Rats don't like it and neither do slugs and snails.

You need to consult the manufacturer on what to do. There could be something nasty in there.

As for the ant killer, is there not a section on the label telling you the active ingredient? or any safety warnings?

Really? I always thought they were biting me when they crawled down my glove. They always look like they're having a nibble right before I flick them off. What are they stinging me with then? Their little bums? *off to google 'what does an ant sting look like'*

Dont panic - all will wash off eventually....none of it is ready to eat yet surely? My onions /garlic will be picked in July and my beetroot hasnt broken cover yet!
I only kill ants if they come into my kitchen, i use slug pellets all the time when plants are small and vulnerable ...wash everything really well anyway because slug slime will make you ill.
