Veggie mesh, or standard netting?

I'm just about to purchase some netting, and create a frame from bamboo canes to protect my small amount of brassicas that I'm growing this year, just four squares of a square foot gardening raised bed. However I then saw veggiemesh on sale, and it looks as if you can just lay this over the plants right through the growing season.

How good is this stuff at letting light in, and keeping the pests out? Can I really just drape it over the squares I need to protect? Do I need to lift it to water the plants? Also while I'm at it, is it worth me using it to cover all my squares apart from the marigold, nasturtiums and squash plants (as they will be climbing)?

You can just drape over, water and sunlight get in no problem

However cabbage whites will lay eggs through the mesh onto a leaf touching the mesh.

Don't cover any crops that require insect pollination!

Ok I'll try and prop the mesh around the brassicas so it's not in contact. The other veg in the bed are parsnips, leeks, beetroot, spring onion, radish and spinach. All of these will be covered. I won't cover the squash or courgette, nor the marigold and nasturtium. Does that sound about right?

When I grew in the sq ft, because of all the various veg & flowers in the bed, my brassicas didn't get touched.............I may have just been lucky.
