Oyster mushrooms grown on a book

Just had a catalogue through and they're selling mushroom spawn that can be grown on a paperback / phonebook.

I'm thinking about buying it as a novelty present for my sister who's a primary teacher - the class could start growing them in the autumn.

Anyone ever tried this? Did it work? I'm quite excited by the idea (though whether a class of 6 year olds would be, is another question)

That sounds awesome, almost as good as frogspawn for an 6 year old i reckon.
