Strawberries sending out runners - advice on how to look after?

Morning all,

My strawberries are sending out runners and I was wondering if it is a simple case of cutting the runner away and planting in a pot full of compost (I wish to plant them in the bed with the other strawberries)?

The best thing to do is to is to allow a small plant to develop then start it off in a small pot but keep it attached to the mother plant. once it is established you can sever the connection and pot it on as normal.

I always cut mine off while the plants are fruiting, give them one thing to think about at a tine. After fruiting and cutting back I let a max of two runners form per plant and only take the forts stronger plantlet rather than the ones further down the runner. I let the runner grow roots then push them into a 3" plastic pot of compost, cutting it free from the parent plant when the riots have taken. It's a doddle

Two places, one next to the new plant and then next to the old plant, unless the runner has other baby plants you wish to use in which case leave them attached to mom. Strawberries are as tough as old boots so you can't do much harm.
