  • Struggling to find a cheap water butt... help!

    Evening all,

I have been looking to buy a water butt for my allotment but so far the cheapest I can find is on ebay (210 litres for £26 - includes delivery)

210L Litre 45 Gallon Water Butt Rain Collecting Bosh Barrel Plastic | eBay.

This is much cheaper than argos (£40!), amazon (£50) & Toolstation (£75!!).

I looked for IBC's on ebay and found something but the delivery was 99p per mile and it was a 100 miles from me so it far eclipsed the items value.

    What can I do?

I need 2-3 water-butts but the cheapest I have found means it it will add up to £78 - is this too much to pay? Surely I can find cheaper alternatives?

    Thank you for your help,

    Samuel

Maybe I am using too much water but I managed to get through 460L from my IBC in under 2 weeks you need to store as much as you can. I paid £55 inc delivery for my IBC.

I found a great place to find plastic drums for free. Find yourself an alarm installer or manufacturer and pop in they use loads of distiller water and due to funky health and safety laws they have to pay to have the empty drums removed. Offer to take them off there hands for free and you both win. They usually use ones with only a small hole at the top but because they are plastic you can saw the tops off easily . I have 5 250 ltr drums on my allotment.
