  • Courgette thief?

    Hi all,

Are there any pests/animals which would snap of a whole courgette? I had a couple ripening on the plant the other day but one of them has gone. I looked at the plant where it had been growing and you can see where it's been snapped off at the base.

Could this be a pest/animal? If not I think there may be a courgette thief!

    Thanks,

    Leanne

I think if was a human theft, they would have taken them both. Maybe Squirrel, Rabbit, a bird?..........Just guessing as you are.

Thanks both - It didn't occur to me that both would be gone if it was a human theft! Haha

I also never thought a courgette would be appealing to a squirrel etc!

My lab has taken to sitting or lying beside the carrots. He loves carrots and he must be able to smell them growing. He'll have a long wait though, they are nowhere near pulling stage.

Sorry OP, that doesn't help you in the least.

It could have been a human with a conscience, took one but left the other for you. Do rabbits like courgettes? Mind you, we have rabbits and never had them stealing courgies before. Beans, peas, yes, lettuce, yes, leeks, yes, onions...cabbages...carrots....yes... but never courgies.
