Feeding my tomato plants again.

Hi,
I was wondering what space I need to give between feeds for my tomato plants. I think it was more than a couple of weeks ago. Possibly 3 weeks I did make a note but as per usual I can't find my dates.
I have loads of toms on my plants and more flowers appearing.I have both outside and in a small plastic greenhouse. The ones outside seem to be doing better than the greenhouse ones.
Have been down this morning I have actually got a tom turning red

They are all in containers. So are getting a good watering every night now.

We water ours at least twice a day and feed with tomorite every Friday

The tomatoes should be fed every 7-10 days once the first trusses have set

Its been so hot I have been adding a few drop of liquid feed morning and night.

Water twice daily and up the amount of feed for container grown toms ie instead of one cap full try one and a half

At the moment my toms also in containers are being fed at every other watering, so are fed every second day. My reasoning is that when I water I washout/dilute the nutrients in the compost.

Call me naive but if your plants need the nutrients you can not wash them out then it's just a waste of feed

Well tonight I have watered the toms as per usual then gave them a feed so hopefully the feed will soak in and not just drain through.

You can not wash out /dilute nutrients what your plant needs it will take Mother Nature is a wonderful thing you just need to look for signs if distress.

The plants do need the nutrients but if you water consistently with fresh water for seven days in between liquid feeds that will dilute the feed in the compost, therefore the plants can't take up what is not there.

With tomato plants by the time they are showing distress you have already set them back.

I also water every day and feed every other day with Tomorite. My are potted in plastic buckets and standing gravel trays so the water doesn't run away.
