I have a 3m long polythene cloche, and I'm wondering if I can use it to good effect in the veg patch now? Is there anything that would usually not like being sown in August that I could in fact grow just fine under the cloche? I'm thinking mainly of leaf crops but I'll consider anything!

Use for a cloche in August?

We used to use fleece on our cloches in summer as the plastic ones do tend to get a lot of condensation and bake/ wilt seedlings, even with open ends.
With fleece they are brill against pests like flea beetle!
Not sure what you could sow, but I thought I'd just mention that!
Lambs lettuce and pak choi come to mind."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

Thanks Nicos I've never grown pak choi before, though I think I crashed and burned with Lambs Lettuce one year, so I might give them a whirl. Thanks for the fleece tip. I'm a wee bit confused though - would fleece not make it even warmer inside the cloche and so cook the seedlings even more? Or does it act as a shade? Is there anything that isn't made better by half an hour pottering in the veg patch?
