  • Growing teas - what can I grow?

    Evening all,

I am interested in growing some crops to use in brewing tea and I was wondering what can I grow with the specific aim of using in my brew?

Thank you for your time and help,

    Samuel

Do you mean herb teas Samuel? Like mint, rosemary, fennel, sage. Or you can use blackberry and raspberry leaves.
The leaves of Bergamot are used to flavour Earl Grey tea.

If you mean herbal teas, there is mint including peppermint and spearmint, lemon verbena, lemon balm, tea - Camellia sinensis, and others. Taking a dekka at the herbal teas in the shops will give you ideas.

Grow some Stevia rebaudiana and you can add it to mint leaves to make mint tea without having to add sugar

What is the ph of your plot. If it's acid you could try planting tea bushes. Lemon balm is a refreshing tea or you could make yourself a chamomile walkway. Sweet Cicerly has an aniseed flavour - young leaves and immature depends can be used to sweeten up things without sugar.

ps. Veggiechicken, Earl Grey is flavored with Bergamont Orange, although you are right and the herb Bergamot does make a nice brew.

Southern European Elder grows well and flowers make a good tea

Over here in BG they call it the tea plant, it spreads everywhere , 2 meters high new shoots every year, doesn't spread by seed much, plant it in a big pot and its fine
