Comfrey cutting

Hi all new here and fairly new to gardening been given a mature comfrey plant split it up got several crowns to put back in job done
Took some root cuttings (about pencil thickness ) and cut them into about inch size pieces and pitted them up making sure right way up (as read here lol )
But my question is where should I keep them untill they show growth
Ie light dark. Warm cold. Inside outside etc.

Anywhere!! My husband accidently (unknown to me) dug up some of the roots of my comfrey while weeding. I only found out when I had several new plants.

Thanks for that will pop them in the cold frame any idea how long they will take to come up never done this before so not sure it gonna work

Shouldn't take too long and I wouldn't worry if it's not instantaneous. Basically comfrey wants to grow and even a teeny bit of root will form a plant, doesn't matter which way up or where so long as it's not totally water logged.

i would,nt worry about them not growing. your biggest problem is stopping them growing. i bought 7 cuttings 2 years ago on ebay. potted them on and planted out in spring.make sure they the bocking 14 if i recall or else they will self seed and take over.they are prolific so grow in a corner out of way.i,ve had tons of liquid off them. feed toms and peppers. and use leaves as a compost. i woulnt be without it. i,ve saved a fortune on liquid feeds. hope this is some use to you. cheers plumber

I bought some 'comfrey cuttings', they were about an inch in size and just looked like little bits of dead wood. I potted them in 3/4 inch pots, and waited, and waited, and eventually they grew, took ages, but are now growing well on plot. Even one I kind of mislaid grew in some random pile of compost, without a pot. So am sure yours will grow, but may take some time. Mine were outside from the start, in wind and rain.

where should I keep them untill they show growth

Dig a 5" deep hole where you want the clump to be. Drop the root cutting in the hole, backfill with soil. Job's a good 'un.
