Using cling-film to repair poly-tunnel & greenhouse?

Afternoon all,

I used to work in a warehouse and we used to pallet stuff up and forklift it into lorries and I was quite impressed by the utilisation of cling-film to hold in place the heavy loads we palleted up which brings me to my idea/question.

I was thinking of using it to repair the rips on my polytunels at the corners where they meet the metal polls and also on a few of my poly greenhouses which were ripped by the wind.

Anyone tried using cling-film in such a manner before?

I tried that special cello tape but I found it to be naff!

I don't think it would be strong enough. Try UV treated plastic sheet and stick it in place with Bostic Professional glue. It is the only glue that will work on plastic

How about clear duck tape?

i used brown heavy duty parcel tape and it has held the corners together for the past 2 years

Aldi or Lidl (cannae remember which) sell this, much cheaper.

I held a polycarbonate sheet that the wind blew out of my new greenhouse temporarily with black duct tape. Trouble is when you try to remove it the glue stays on the poly glass and is defying all attempts to remove it.

I bet that the 'Sticky Stuff remover' would sort it out. From Lakeland, or Wilko for about a fiver (from memory). Leave it to 'steep' for about 5 mins, then hot soapy water should do the trick.

WD40 will remove it I think. You just need to get all the WD40 off as well as it can melt some plastics over time.

What's wrong with polytunnel clear repair tape? I got a wide version from ebay and it's great. Really strong and has stuck well.

Cling film would be useless imo.

Second the sticky stuff remover suggestion Bill. I've got that too and it's brilliant. Have yet to find anything sticky it can't remove.
