North east facing gardens

Hi all, I have just worked out that the house we put an off on has a north east facing garden (if I worked it out right on google maps). Never would have ideally brought a garden that facing after being spoilt with a south west garden at my last place (although to hot in summer at times)

The garden is round 130-140ft, so hoping even if the back of the house is in shade most of the time, the bottom will get enough. The lady there is a keen gardener and seems to have coped.

There are a few to many trees in it with two very large at the bottom of the next doors on the right and one fairly large half way up the two gardens on the sides.

Seemed light enough not to put me off at the time we viewed, but it was 10 in the morning.

Just wondered who else has one and how they get on.

Also, I know the sun is highest in summer, but in winter, will it still get light at the end?

Just wondered who else has one and how they get on.

my front garden is north facing, but pretty long, so the bit closest the house is usually shaded (but can grow a camellia, primroses etc), and the bit furthest from the house (and its shade) gets a bit more light and grows most ornamentals (I haven't tried veg or fruit there).

My side return is east facing and mostly shaded, but this year it's been so consistently warm that I've had bowls & bowls of ripe tomatoes from it. They were leftover seedlings, I normally only grow ornamentals, eg Jap anemone, wallflowers, bamboo, a rose, honeysuckle, holly etc

I know the sun is highest in summer, but in winter, will it still get light at the end?

Depends. Is there anything casting shade on it? I have my greenhouse on a south facing patio, but I can't grow anything in it over winter, because it's shaded by the garage, which isn't high but is higher than the winter sun gets to
