Building a mini hoop house - how to?

Evening all,

I wish to build some mini hoop houses to protect some plants over the winter and I was wondering how I can do this?

I have seen people do it with PVC piping but I am not sure where to get this from.

Are there any substitutes for this PVC piping?

Also where can I get the plastic sheeting from?

Blue pipe from a plumbers merchant. Disposable dust sheet also a merchant or diy store (however dust sheet is best for sheltered areas and has a very limited life span) I did have some thick plastic sheeting from a builders merchant but no idea what its real use is.

There's always hula hoops from the pound shop, they won't last like pipe does though.

I can normally eat a packet within 3 minutes.
