Is this Japanese knotweed?

Is this Japanese knotweed which is coming through the dry stone wall at the rear of my garden?
There are nettles in the woodland behind and this is growing in and amongst.

No, that's just bindweed. A pain to deal with but nothing compared to JK.

As its in a wall you are best with weedkiller as you will not be able to get to the roots

If you don't want to spray, you could spot paint the leaves with weedkiller & it would feed down to the roots. That's how I used to treat it when I had lottie.

I am with BM on this one, don't spray just paint the leaves with a weed killer.

An update on this.
We have just completed and someone has completely cleared the weeds.

Phew that it wasn't knotweed though hey? There's some where we take the dogs, my OH was saying "oh that's a nice plant" (?!) I know it as we had it in a garden when I was a kid. My mum tried everything to get rid of it, in the end we moved!

I think Himalayan Balsam is a nice plant too - but its another to be avoided (well, avoid allowing it to seed, at least)
