I have an some unheated windowsill propogators that I will be using. Does anyone know by how much on average the temperature increases with these? Some will be used in the conservatory, whereas others will be used in the house (mainly for chillis)

If they are just clear plastic domes over seed trays / pots then they will only be at room temperature, except when the sun strikes them and then they will cook ...
I have my window propagator (heated) on an East or West facing window that doesn't get full sun for long, so it doesn't "cook". North facing would do too. Once germinated the seedlings will need more light, but will be happy to have the vents on the dome opened, and thereafter removed, which resolves the "cooking" issue.
Propagator will be happy in the dark until the seeds germinate
e.g. airing cupboard / boiler room, but of course if the propagator contains a mix of germinating and germinated/growing on then it needs light. I use a mixture of 1/4 sized seed trays (with individual clear dome lids) and 9cm square pots (don't have lids, I put them in zip-lock bags) so I can easily move them from dark-to-light or heated to unheated etc.
