Hi,
I recently started my first ever veg patch in my back garden and removed the turf off the top and added a bag or two of rotted manure and mixed it in and pretty much planted straight into it (winter onions, garlic, broad beans).
Now I was wondering if wanted to start a new bed in the spring/summer can I do the same? I've read it's best to improve or create beds in the autumn so they are ready for spring....but if I just removed the turf of a new bed and either added manure or fertilisers will this be ok?
I don't want to burn the roots or kill seeds with manure but the above method hasn't harmed what I'm currently growing but if I want to sow seed I don't want to kill them straight off.
Thank you.
