Baby Christmas Tree

Hello folks, we're looking for any help on planting out, and looking after a wee potted baby Christmas tree we were given for Christmas, its potted just now, but we'd like advice on the best time to plant it in the garden, would the weather be too harsh just now, should we plant it now or wait a few months, keep it in the greenhouse, we thought about putting it near a wall to protect it a bit, but would this be wrong for when it grew.

Don't put it straight outside. Harden it off as you would with any seedlings or young plants. Mine stays in the porch for a few days, out during the day and in for the evening. The pots they come in are usually very small, I'm hoping to plant mine out as soon as it's been hardened off.

A Christmas tree is going to prefer to be outside, rather than in, so I wouldn't delay in getting it out of the dry & warm house atmosphere, but as Scarlet has said it needs hardening off before putting outside.

When you say 'wee Christmas tree', do you mean a Norwegian Spruce?
Is this to grow on for next year? Or as a permanent specimen tree?
As with any tree you have to think well ahead, because whilst it may be wee now, it soon won't be. The Norwegian Spruce, full grown, can go to 180 feet.... Takes many years to reach that height of course, but still needs to be thought about. Girth and root spread more immediate considerations.
A beautiful tree mind you. And it's sure to do well in your part of the world.

If it is the first it has been forced/ grown with heat and molly coddled. In which case I would leave it potted in an unheated greenhouse until there is better weather on the way.

If it is the latter it is tough as old boots. Harden off (only if it has been indoors a while) and plant.
