I asked about flower buckets in my local co-op and they gave me all I wanted free. They started saving them for me until I was snowed under! I had to tell them to stop.

Questions about poly pots for potatoes - size and location

8l does seem a bit small.
My mini experiment last year (My first years of potatoes) involved 8 no. 35l containers with the following set ups.
2 tubers: Good crop of decent sized spuds
3 tubers: Excellent crop of decent sized spuds
4 tubers: About the same as above, no noticeable difference in yield but seemed to dry quicker. Definitely more leaf growth.
5 tubers: More potatoes, but they were smaller, albeit with a similar yield to above and were a bugger to keep moist.
It was enough to convince me that 12l per plant was ideal so this year I was planning on doing 3 per pot, but may carry out a few more experiments to verify my results from last year. Albeit that 8 pots of potatoes is hardly a scientific study.

just to add my bit, been to morrisons just now, the buckets they have on display filled with flowers, are much stronger and have handles, they don't sell these ones. the ones they sell are lighter and don't have handles, and are the ones that the flowers are delivered in, and the ones they used to throw away, (until some gardener spotted how useful they might be). 99p for 10.DottyR
