Greenhouse Plinth

Hi guys I'm thinking about investing in a new greenhouse, an upgrade from a 6x8 to a 6x12 but wondering about thoughts of getting a brick plinth instead of the metal one you pay seperately for??? Want to know people's thoughts as I think this would be a better base for the frame?

When my dad put up his greenhouse he used large kerbstones that came from some roadworks - he got them just for the lifting and they do an excellent job.

any plinth is better than no plinth as the headroom it gives is valuable. Last one I did is cement blocks with wooden rails screwed to the blocks and the frame of the greenhouse screwed to the rails.

Mine has a brick base; however, the bricks are soft and have crumbled so I recommend that you use engineering bricks, or similar, if you go down that route.

I have a polytunnel on a brick (block ) plinth, the height makes all the difference, feels warmer at the bottom, but lose a little light.

I agree, my main cropping house has quite a low ridge. I have "lowered beds" in mine, which was my after-the-fact solution. My greenhouse base is brick on a concrete foundation, so I was able to rely on the foundation to allow me a bit of excavation depth, but if I was doing it again I'd add an extra course or two of bricks to get a suitable cropping height in the house. Lowering the beds has enabled me to get the equivalent of an extra truss on my Tomato plants
