  • How can I identify my peas?

I planted some peas in March - they were supposed to be eaten as pea sprouts but they grew really slowly and I decided to plant them out in the garden.

Problem is, I didn't write down what sort they were - it didn't really matter as I just chucked the whole packet into the seed tray and they weren't supposed to be kept till podding time. Is there any way to identify what sort of peas they are - not sure if they were sugar snap, mangetout or 'proper' peas?

No need to kick me for not writing it down - been doing that to myself for weeks!

Naughty Shirl....you should have kept the packet!!

I would guess that if you were using them for sprouters they would be dwarf peas and not petit pois or mangetout

For your sins, you'll just have to wait and see!!

Thanks chaps, have pods appearing so will wait to see if they taste better small and skinny or if they grow fat and wrinkly. Madmax is a stickler for tidiness and I do try to keep him happy and throw out empty packets from time to time. As we intended to eat them as shoots the type didnt matter and I suspect they are Kelvedon Wonder bought cheap at the tail end of last year.
