  • Red Baron onions

First time i've grown so some help would be appreciated.

I have a couple which are going to seed - should i remove the seed heads?
Although happy and healthy looking most do not seem to be filling out very much - how long should they take till harvest time - packet says August but can't imagine they will be that 'bulb' like.
Is all of this rain good for them? - not that i can do anything about it. If is does eventually dry up should i water them to help them fill out?

    Please help!

Pick off the seed heads as soon as you spot them. These plants will still form bulbs, but they won't keep well so use them fresh. All the rain is a pain, but it is still better than lugging a watering can around. I harvested my onions last year in August. They start filling out the bulbs according to day length, apparently, so should be ready by then. Unless we suddenly get a real drought you shouldn't need to water.
