Tomato question

Hi,
I will be growing some of my tomato's in tubs again this year. I was just wondering a question about the tubs and how many I can fit in a tub.
The tubs are the ones from Morrisons, those black ones that you can buy in a bundle. Last year I tried to do one tom plant per tub but that took up loads of room and loads of compost. It also took an age to water and to keep them well watered.
So I was wondering would it still be best one tom plant per tub or can I push it to two?
The type I am growing is Red Pear.

1 per tub. They are thirsty plants, they really need the room. Have you tried sitting the pots in trays?

Another vote for 1 per tub I'm afraid, not what you wanted to hear is it?

If it helps, somewhere on this forum (and I can't find it just now) someone said that their grandad had a rule of thumb....at least 1.5 ltr of compost per every truss of toms.
The morrisons buckets are often quoted as being 10 ltr but some, indeed my ones, are 8 ltr.
That's 5 trusses of toms per bucket (7.5 ltrs) plus a little extra room for the plant itself and the water.

Crowded plants simply make less fruit.
