HELP....can anyone advise why the cord on my petrol strimmer snaps every 3 or 4 minutes please, I'm fairly certain I'm putting the cord on correctly and I'm only strimming grass , nothing too demanding!

    What make & model ?

    Does it have auto-feed ?

Can you post a picture of how you are loading the cord please ?

You may be using a cord that is too thin

It should tell you what diameter the cord should be in the instructions or you may be able to find it on the net

If the grass is a bit long make several passes cutting a bit lower each time and check the diameter of the cord.

It's possible the cord is brittle with age. Perhaps buy some fresh stuff.

Gordon, check the eyelet that the cord feeds through, it may be damaged. I had a similar problem last year with a heavy duty Stihl brushcutter and found that a piece of the eyelet had broken off causing the cord to repeatedly snap off

For me, it's the age of the cord or the quality of the product. I'm using some proper Stihl square profile cord that cuts through everything I've put it in front of my small Makita strimmer whilst my Dads more powerful Stihl with round profile cord kept getting wrapped up in the longer undergrowth.

I've used some cheap stuff off ebay in the past that snapped every 5 mins.
