  • Back from hols!

Well I am back from my weeks hols today, got my priorities right and went straight to my plants! Luckily I had my uncle looking after them who is also a gardener (although flowers not veg) so they all look to be ok (as ok as can be with the amount of rain!).

Was very excited to see my peppers and chillis! Have 8 plants (all indoors) and are blooming! For my first time I am very encouraged by these

Just wanted some advice on how to harvest my potatoes. They were planted on 31 March, Kestrel, and think they were due to be harvested roughly last week. What is the best way to harvest them out of a large pot? I have 3 tubers in each large (40 litres size) pot, and dont want to waste any, as I only have 3 pots with 3 in each. The first two pots planted 3 weeks apart, the leaves are very holey since I left them last week. Is this part of dying down, or an indication something is wrong?

Welcome back shelle - I planted mine in buckets around the same time, and my leaves (thanks to the weather methinks!) all blew down and started to turn yellow with little black spots. I know potato leaves etc do die off, but had a quick "fertle" in my buckets and hey presto! lots of lovely tatties - some were a little small but I guess that depends on the type they are (my labels faded so I'm not sure!). Try having a little dig around and see what you find. Good luck - let us know how you get on! Bernie
