Mine didn't pop up last year until it was nearly winter, then they died because of the cold
I think they are just slow growers that require a good amount of heat .
I sowed my usual 4 types of "sweet peppers": Amanda Wax, King of the North, California Wonder and Corno Del Torro Rosso (my favourite) full germination and are romping away. I tried Red Marconi on a whim, sown same time as the rest and one seedling germinated this week (two months in a heated propagator) while the other varieties will be ready for final planting in the next couple of weeks. Needless to say I won't be bothering with Marconi again.
