  • Advice on climbing plants please

At the end of my plot is a footpath popular with dog walkers and gangs of kids hanging around in school holidays. I feel like I'm in a goldfish bowl sometimes when people are staring in as they walk by! Can anybody recommend a perennial that would provide some coverage? The section of fence I'm hoping to cover is about 8' wide and 8' high - I don't want to spend too much money.

I had thought of a buddleja but thought some of the other plot holders might not thank me for that if it spreads everywhere!

    Any suggestions appreciated.

I planted the thug Clematis Montana next to our fence within a very short time it has become massive. Lovely flowers and scent in spring/early summer. It does drop its leaves in winter but it's now so thick you can't see through to next door.

Yep, clematis a good start , otherwise honeysuckle or for really quick results ( and quite pretty ) Russian Vine ( mile a minute).

        Does Russian Vine flower?

I agree clematis is doing well already along a fence panel that's in a semi-sunny spot.
