  • Pot size for tumbling toms?

I have some tumbling tom seedlings coming along nicely and soon ready to go up a pot size.
Following so clever advice on here, I'm going to hang them in the greenhouse apex in baskets.
I was wondering what size basket they will need?
Poundland have some 25cm ones, would they be big enough for a plant or 2? Trying to keep things on the cheep so would be great if they are big enough!

I'd go a little bit bigger if you can. How deep are they? If they are too small you will be watering a few times a day in really hot weather.

No idea how deep they are, it doesnt say...
But looking at the pic i would hazard a guess at a little over half what they are wide, somewhere about 15cm ish.

I bought some of the pound shop hanging baskets since we're on a tight budget. They're not very deep but I'm planning to use some suitably sized plastic grow bags inside the baskets to bring the depth/height up a little. I use Hadopots bags but there are other varieties.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

You could put a sprinkling of water retaining crystals near the base of the basket. I used some in a tiny pot last year & purposefully didn't water it much just to see what happens, nothing happened, they're good.

You might just get away with one plant per pot, but I use larger. Mine are about 300mm square x 300mm deep.

You will have to check at least twice a day during hot weather to see if they need watering and feed on a regular basis.

I prefer the original Tumbler to Tumbler Tom but you can see from the pics what size of plant you are likely to get.
