Most of the bean varieties are not winter hardy and die off in the cold so are treated as annuals and planted every year.
If you let a few pods dry out on the plants you can save that as seed for next year. Just shell the pods when really dry and store the seeds in an envelope in a cool dry place.
okay thanks, is there any chance of them surviving the winter if they are kept somewhere warm though? like a polytunnel or greenhouse or even inside the house on a windowsill?
