Tomarto's early blight?

Good evening

Me again sorry.... I have just notice three of my four tomato plants have black spots with like a brown/gold ring on their leaves... Have I lost them already to blight?

They have the correct soil, sunny place not too windy kept watered but not drowned. As far as I was aware I didnt need to start 'feeding' until first fruits appear???

On a plus note being such a novice the information you have all offered since I have joined and started posting threads has been invaluable so thank you!

It looks like it Laura, there have been several blight watches recently. I would remove the infected leaves & keep an eye on the stem, if that starts turning brown then odds on it's the dreaded blight. Do you have others nearby & what are they like?

I have four total plants and three have these leaves one plant is ok should I move him away from the spotty infected ones?



This one seems ok but others look the same as the first photo I posted

Is it true if I loose the plants that I can't use the soil for other tomarto plant?

It may be nowt nor sommat but just keep your eye on the stems:

I think they just look a bit hungry. Have you given them a high nitrogen feed? What variety are they?

Looks like sun scald to me, I'd just pick them off and give the plants a feed.

Were they hardened off well before being stood outside?

I hadn't fed them yet as I thought I had to wait until fruit had started? I have some tomato feed ready in shed will give it a go but remove the damaged leaves? There is four plants, two medium, one cherry and a beefeater will get names in the morning....

No you don't want specific tomato feed, yet. You need a high nitrogen feed just to give them a boost and help them grow. Tomato feed is a high potash feed to improve fruiting and flavour.

I'd say it looks like sun scaled to me. Have you been watering the whole plant? Or do you water the soil it's in?

I treat my toms with Asprin, and it has been quite effective in the past see Feed tomatoes ASPIRIN say scientists to fight disease and boost yield | Daily Mail Online but you need to do it before blight and rain

Looks like a nutrient deficiencyto me, give them some Epsom salts. Don't think it's blight.

Just pick off the affected leaves and keep an eye out for any other signs of damage or marks on the leaves.
Personally, I dont think its blight.

Thank you everyone thats a few jobs for my toms today.... fingers crossed

So I have taken off effected leaves, given the tom a little asprin solution and will see how they get on over the next few days. They were hardend off correctly for a week. Typical english weather since they have come out hot, sunny and a little cold and windy. They are placed where the air can circulate but not too windy...

Types I have are

Supersweet 100
Alicante
Moneymaker
Beafsteak Buffalo


Thank you for all your advice... one last question out of interest what regular feed do people use pre fruiting for tomatoes?

I either use a seaweed extract (can't remember exact name but it's in a brown bottle) or MiracleGr@.
