Should I change the compost

got this growing out of the bottom of my pot


I have pulled it out and the plant is growing ok .I just wondered if it be better if I change it?

Is it a fungus of some sort? Can't quite make it out.

Yes, I thought fungus. Where did the compost come from & what plant is it?

I think its fungus. Its my home compost and last years shop bought. Its not doing it in the other pots ,that I did at the some time. And it a chilli plant.

I always thought fungus was supposed to be a sign of good soil ? or is "fungus and Fungi" different ?

This fungus is ok because it's just from rotted down organic matter which is normal,if it was bad everyone would be saying to repot it into fresh compost,but its fine,it depends where the fungus is & what it's growing on,to work out if it's a harm or not to the plant or roots.

Me being a fussy old git I change it any just to be safe.

Just to let you know ,the chilli plant grew really well ,i had to stop at 4 ft and i got a lot of chillis off it..
