Christmas spuds are tricky, they seem to catch every disease going. Post the pics and we'll try to diagnose!

they are in a poly tunnel, but as you know ,even up here in Carlisle, the weathers been very humid and not normal weather, ( well what we called normal weather)

Without knowing the exact problem Keefs, the bottom line is that the diseased parts need removing, it's unlikely you will get a crop as they have only been in a few weeks & as you know, plant need leaves to help growth. I personally think it's a lost cause, I hope someone can come along & prove me wrong.

they seem to have grown really quick, but hey ho, you learn by your mistakes, so they say.
Its my first year with an allotment,so its trial and error, see what grows and what doesnt,
As for christmas, trip to morrisons, thanks guys

Looks distinctly like blight to me. Unless the polytunnel was never opened up, blight can even strike undercover. Christmas potatoes are only normal seed potatoes kept in cold store for longer. They are not hardy or have any better disease resistance than "normal" seed potatoes. I think sellers make out they are something different and don't seem to give any advice about cold etc. Just my thoughts.

Probably the worst place they could have been is in the polytunnel as the warm and humid conditions are perfect for blight.I learnt that earlier in the year when all my tomatoes were wiped out in 24 hours.
