    You don't need to multiply the 0.7 by anything as it's already in mg - the 1000000 is also a kilogram.

    The "/" symbol in this case means per. So this would mean that the test is accurate to 0.7 parts per million or 0.7mg PER kilogram.

    So in this case the ppm of lead could be between 223.3 & 224.7 because the test is only accurate to 0.7ppm

    Or alternatively between 223.3mg/kg and 224.7mg/kg.

    So each kilogram of soil contains 224mg of lead + or - 0.7mg

      Erm, hello and Welcome potato girl ..

      I'm afraid I'm totally baffled by it all now ~ maths not being one of my strong points..... so I'll leave it to the boys...!!! Hope you get your question answered
