If you do sow it, just don't let it set seed. Or keep your hoe busy. I have hairy bittercress pretty much everywhere from bringing in garden centre plants (where it's endemic) and thinking in the first year that it was pretty...d'oh!
I have a closed 100L water butt outside the greenhouse which gets an onion sack of chopped comfrey added to it every 3 months or so. The last cut in late summer means there's comfrey tea ready for the first sowings the following year. After a few months the spent comfrey goes on the compost heap and the infusion goes on my tomatoes.
You could also try looking on common land near you. Given its ready seeding habit you might be able to find it growing wild while you wait for your own plants to establish. There's a huge expanse of it about 20 minutes away from where I live. Am planning on raiding it this year.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia
