So, after a wait of about 7 years a letter asking if I was still interested in an allotment (a long since forgotten dream by now!!!) turned up.

A bit of to and froing by email, and a viewing of the allotment have resulted in me sending my "formal" application for the plot off tonight!

So, here's hoping I will receive my invoice, agreement and key soon :-)

It appears it be in reasonable shape, and upon confirmation of 'ownership' I will be getting pictures/sizes etc.

The last tenant had a few beds; the strawberries are full of buttercups, there are a couple of gooseberry bushes that I'm hoping a neighbour would like to take off my hands (I'd rather not waste them), a bramble patch (that appears to have been cultivated), some parsnips peeping, a bed of leeks, a bed of raspberry canes (need to suss out which they are before hacking them down) and a yet to be confirmed fruit bush to be had.

Then there were a couple of clear beds, a few compost bins, a couple of tyres, a storage container and a pile of overgrown stuff beyond the bins.

The Mr is on board and is going to help clear the overgrown bit with a view to a shed, logstore and greenhouse at one end. He's also going to help relocate my trough and half oak barrel from the front garden - think I will have to empty these for the journey mind.

Got a promise of some rhubarb I can have and my bits from the garden - Cannot wait to get the key and spend some time up there (even though I've lost a square to my 3 year old).

Sorry for the crazy long first ever post there - I'm a bit giddy

    welcome to the vine

Sounds like a good plot - take time to get to know it, and develop it as you would like it to become

Congrats on the long overdue offer of a plot, makes me feel guilty when it only took 7 weeks for me to get my first offer from filling out the form for my first plot, and then the plot needed virtually nothing doing to it apart from easy digging and by that I mean one handed digging with a spade.

Second plot took about 7 mins to get as I think I beat the woman into submission over the phone and she wanted to get rid of me which is why she then offered 'the jungle' which took virtually 9 months to beat into submission.

If you need advice about anything then ask as someone will usually know the answer on here, talk to any of the old boys on other plots as they usually know what works and what doesn't and saves you alot of wasted time planting the wrong things.

And don't forget to post pics, everyone loves them on here.
