I'm putting in a new 60m hedge at the back in a few weeks. About half of thatvis damp ground that grows a lot of nettles every year. I'm getting free white thorn quicks that are quite small. Will they survive the nettles? It's the roots I'm concerned about.

Nettles are really easy to pull out of the ground, just wear arm length gloves & goggles.............sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I don't really know, but I do know that nettles grow fast and tall and their roots spread in a thick mass, so I'm guessing they would out-compete the white-thorn.
Is it possible to dig out all the nettle roots before planting? I was digging some out in my garden a couple of days ago and they are tough but not very deep. I needed to wear gloves though, because they are starting to sprout and even small nettles sting.
