Hello,
I have recently moved home and have my own garden for the first time, which is very exciting. It needs a little love, but nothing drastic. We are developing a veg patch, and have begun growing a number indoors, so I'm likely to be full of questions over the next few months...however, on a more general gardening theme, one of the perks are the established raised borders, which are largely empty, so we can begin from scratch to a degree. The garden is 50ft, but the borders only stretch across maybe 2/4 of it. Will get some exact measurements.
As a relative newbie to garden ownership, I'm keen to refresh the existing softwood border design with something nicer, but without spending too much. The stain is worn and the wood is tired, splitting and looks a tad wonky...so whilst it doesn't have to change, I'd like to explore a few related options.
What should I go for? Is there a suitable wood choice beyond railway sleepers? Might be expensive and apart from a garden centre, where is the best place to source?
Many thanks.
