  • branch cuttings for screening

I have heard that you can plant birch or beech branches directly into the ground, and they will sprout leaves to provide screening.
Is this true, and whats the best and how do I do it?

    Hi Jim and welcome.
Lots of cuttings, stuck in the ground will root so I'm sure that birch and beech would be the same. Haven't tried those myself.
Beech makes a better hedge than birch and tends to hang on to its leaves over winter.

Welcome to the vine, willow is one of the easiest, it really is as simple as pushing a short length of it into the ground. As it grows you can form it, so arches etc are possible.
