Paper and cardboard pots on capillary matting

I'll be leaving my seedlings to their own devices for two weeks while I'm away. Some of them are in recycled, compostable pots or homemade newspaper pots.

Can these be used with capillary matting? I fear the pots will become soggy and fall apart. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Apologies if this has been answered before and I haven't navigated the search function skillfully enough to find the answer.

as long as the roots stay damp it won't be a disaster - if the paper pots do disintegrate, you should still be bale to re-pot them again when you come back.

Paper pots will disintegrate eventually, obviously. Some people bind them together in a group to reduce the severity of any collapse. I've even seen cling film wrapped a group (obviously not underneath).

How long will your seedlings have been in them by the time you get back?

In case anyone is wondering in the future, the recycled cardboard pots were fine despite being on the matting for about a month. I didn't try the homemade newspaper pots as they contain wild and crazy nasturtium seedlings that took up too much space.
