Temporary Greenhouse?

Happy Easter Friday all!

I wanted to ask about the temporary greenhouses...I bought one in Wilco last week which was reduced

as I was thinking about using it for tomatoes and chillies and anything else that needs some protection in this wonderful weather we are having. Particularly as this is my first year I didn't want to invest in a proper greenhouse in case everything I try fails and i give up crying in a heap!

My question is...I have two corners of the garden /lawn that it could go on...one corner where drainage isn't good and I would be happy for the grass to be ruined however it isn't massively sunny whereas the sunny corner is a good corner so if i could get away without wasting that bit of lawn I would.

Do things in greenhouse benefit more from the heat and small bits of sun or need more sun?

I also have an area thats paved and chipped at side of house which would be perfect but there really isn't a huge amount of direct sun?

Recommendations please?

Put it in the sunniest place you can for tomatoes - you may have to shade it a bit if we get long hot days, but if we get the usual rain and cloud the plants will need every bit of sun they can get.

I suppose at a pinch if you are growing in containers it would be possible to move it later in the season, if you had to compromise now.

Perhaps moving it would also limit the damage to the grass until I decide if I would like a permanent one?

Wherever you put it, make you sure it is well tethered/weighted down. They're not known as "blowaways" for nothing!
A rope over the top helps.

You're very welcome.

Yes moving it would most likely mean the grass would grow back if it's not left in place for more then 6 weeks in any one spot.

My advice :-
a) Don't put it up too soon - its too cold now for any tender things to be left with confidence overnight in a small greenhouse.
b) Knock a stake or two in at 45 degree-angles first so you have something something to tie it to -as VC says, you don't want the wind blowing it away
c) if you do decide on moving plants at some point, put a piece of tarpaulin or heavy duty plastic down on the ground before you put your grow-bags or whatever out - then when you do the move you can drag the sheet underneath well someone-else holds the tops of the plants - much easier than trying to lift them.
