Hydroponic advice

I was just wondering, whenever I search the term hydroponics on the internet, it always involves a pump, but I have also seen plant roots just growing submerged in a bath of water and fertilizer mix. Is this method still classed as hydroponics and just as good?

Hi Plumz - try searching the forum for Hydroponics. There are a few threads about it but they all seem to fizzle out. Most of us prefer to get our hands dirty.

Some plants need more oxygen in the water than others,as water stagnates oxygens released into the atmosphere,then the ph needs adjusting but lettuce doesn’t mind low oxygen levels so that looks like it’ll work without a pump,I don’t know much about hydroponics I was just reading this -

Never tried growing hydroponically but I don't think the idea is to grow plants in a reservoir of liquid. From what little I have read is that a flood and drain regime is used and a pump would certainly aid this but likewise a bucket and a jug if you want to avoid the expense of a pump

I am interested in hydroponics and have been wondering about this for the greenhouse - once it's built Vivigrow Soil-Less Planter - Grow Veg Hydroponically

I asked on this forum and got one reply from someone who had used it. I'm too rubbish to point you towards the post, but maybe if you search?

You do need electrics for it though.
