Chilli seedlings - worried!

Hope you can help me out here - Ive grown three varieties of chillis from a kit that was bought for me and had more success with them than previous kits that were bought for me.
They are Jalepeno, Firecracker and Hungarian Hot Wax. The hungarian hotwaxes have shot right up and I am very proud of them so far. Anyway I grew 8 or 9 in each terracotta pot that came with the kit and the compost they came in and showed a neighbour who is much more experienced in gardening than me and agreed it was time to pot on. She gave me some of these peat pots to repot them in and I also bought a big bag of multipurpose compost for them. I was very careful repotting them and using smaller peat pots for the smaller seedlings and larger peatpots for the bigger ones. Ive put them on a tray and in my conservatory but Im getting worried about them and Im not sure if its the compost Ive bought that isnt any good or if its the environment but all of them unfortunately seem to be going a very pale green and any new leaves further down the stems grow but go yellow and stay very thin then are dropping off. I read other threads and do you think they might be too hot? And do I have to keep the compost moist like I did when they were in the terracotta pots? Because Ive been letting the compost get bone dry as my neighbour thinks i could be overwatering them but then some of them started to droop badly and shrivel so I watered them from the top and it looks like I might have saved them from the brink as theyve come back but Im still worried about their paleness - they were a much richer green before repotting them. Ive tried watering them from below and above as well. I will attach some photos so you can see whats happening
Any advice would be really appreciated - Ive never got this far before and dont want to loose them
