  • Chickens on the move again...

my chickens have been moved around our garden like there's no tomorrow! First move was to get them away from the fence of 'digging neighbours dog' - they were moved in front of our back door.

Next move was to other side of patio so I could at least clean them out... still a temporary move though.

Next was just on edge of other patio (we have 3 ). The after a chat with other neighbours about positioning we have decided on a permanent pen. So patio No.3 (which is between our garage/shed and log cabin - we used it for eating only) is now Chook Home!

It is a small patio area with stones around it - one side is the shed (brick built) the opposite side is our log cabin - third side is neighbours fence and OH has just built a chicken-wire fence with gate to keep them in. They have already dug the stones away - which I knew they would. I have added a large piece of drift wood and some logs for them to scramble over. I feel quite happy they are quite protected from the elements and OH is pleased that our garden can go back to some kind of order (they had dug a few holes around ) It has been agreed that they can come out to play a few hours a week when we're around but they have a nice area much bigger than the run that came with the house.

I shall erect hangy things later too and might even get them a plant!

So its been pressure washer out to wash down the other areas, mowed the lawn and spruced things up again. All in all a good mornings work and all happy with their lot!

Now to settle down in front of the rugby!

OK they are escaping!!! Fortunately now they are tame enough that they just stop in their tracks when approached.

First they were flying off the roof of their house! So I put some spare chicken wire on top of that.

Next they managed to get under the gate

So, girls come on - you have about 3m square of space!!

How long is a chickens memory??

      Hi
Sounds like you have the chooks with the 'Mission Impossible' gene...

At least they are tame enough...just think what it would have been like if they were still at the original site....

      Cheers
