Storing eggs in water

    I have read that an old time method of winter storage was coating the egg in vaseline to keep out air, then burying in sand in the cold store/ root cellar good for up to 3 months apparently!
    best done immediately after laid I think

      I’ve worked with a couple of chefs who both advised not storing eggs in the fridge. Normally people keep them in the door... opening and closing the door disturbs the egg in the shell and changes the temperature. Both factors in helping them go off quicker!!!

        Advice usually says not to store in the fridge door.....when in the kitchen of an eating establishment this would be a definite no no as the fridge door is opened often.
