  • Cockrel help please.

Hi all, i would like to start by saying thanx to everyone who has helped me through the last 4 weeks or so cheers.

Iv got a 2 year old orpington cockrel, My hens are about 22ish weeks old, the thing is, he's doing the thing Will this put them off laying or not.

Or should i seperate him from my girls until they are a bit older and have started laying?

It won't put them off laying. However, you will have to watch for them going broody and sitting on the eggs. You can continue to collect the eggs (hens might peck if they are broody though) and eat them with no ill effects. Just make sure you collect daily and use the eggs in rotation. This avoids the rather unpleasant opening a half-formed egg.
    Happy Gardening,
