      OK - there's always one, but I've got to ask it

      Why do you feel you have to clip the feathers?

        I think a birds inclination is to roost in a tree at night! If you want it to use your coop instead and you aint got a top on your run maybe feather clipping is the only way round it! It should also stop them escaping over the top of the run!

          wing Clipping

          I clip because I keep my birds in a large electric netted enclosure which is just over a metre high.An unclipped bird would easily get over and soon become a tasty treat for any number of local foxes!!

            Clipping isn't like hobbling or crippling an animal ... it's a bit like keeping a dog on a lead... done for its own safety. If my parrot was unclipped, he'd be liable to fly out the window and end up as cat-food. Clipped, he can still fly round the room, but doesn't have the 'height' or 'distance' nec.for an escape bid.
