Not going off lay....

Hhmmmm, my chickens went "off lay" for about a week but are now pretty much back to full strength (3 or 4 eggs a day, every day)

Is this because they are hybrids (Warrens) as opposed to pure-breeds?

Streuth what a breed ....A hen that lays 4 a day!seriously from how many hens?...that's good without artificial lights.

Sussex lights slowed up but hey, the days are so short and miserable....Hybrids are generally bred to lay and are more reliable...some lay over 300 eggs year while a pure breed would do well at 250.

We've got 4 hens, and get approx 3 or 4 eggs a day.... I think they take it in turns to have a day off!

Better get making more omlettes!
