I feel I have to speak out in favour of bantams! It does depend on the breed, but my bantams have been the most characterful and beautiful chickens I have had. Some breeds are more flighty than others of course. The eggs are a bit smaller but much better for baking, because there is a bigger yolk compared to the white, and you'll marvel at how golden yellow your pancakes are!

I will go with Birdie Wife and say get banties. They really do have much bigger personalities. We had bantams and light sussex together - the bantams ruled.

I would get 3 spekaldys, but if they have warrens get a mix, warrens are much friendlier. but thats just because i'm not a big fan of bantams
The banty I had last year wasn't very friendly, but I'll vouch for hybrid hens being the opposite. Bantam eggs are very tasty though and they are pretty little hens.
