  • red mite question

Sorry to be a pain, but does painting the inside and outside of the coop with gloss paint prevent red mite. This will obviously be done at least a month before the chooks arrive. Thankyou

dont think it would help that much, if there are any even tiny joins they get in. we used to treat 3 times a year with powder and never had any probs.

I think it helps a bit, but it's not a cure-all, and you still need to be vigilant. It would help you keep on top of things if you did get red mite but the people I know who have had it have said it's really difficult to totally eradicate them and you have to use everything you've got to keep them away.
