    Is it safe to gloss the coop a month befor the chooks arrive and will it help stop red mite. Thankyou

    Depends how thick you paint it on and no it dosnt stop red mite sorry

      as a decorator i wouldnt advise you gloss it unless you prime and undercoat it first.
      it would be better if you stain it and better for the chickens as gloss is oil based

        We used to just use wood preservative every summer (probably creosote at that time) and give a good shake with louse powder and mite treatment every month at big clean-out time.
